Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie first surfaced on the DVD release of Anchorman in 2004 and presents an entirely new feature-length adventure for Ron, Brick Tamland, Champ Kind and Brian Fantana. The film is comprised of alternate takes and deleted scenes from Anchorman fashioned together by director Adam McKay, who replicates the vague story trajectory of the original but with the addition of a bank-robbing revolutionary group called The Alarm Clock.
Though they operate without a manifesto and a clear understanding of what they're fighting for, the group still manage to kidnap Veronica and pull Ron into their live TV broadcast.
In this incarnation Ron and Veronica are already together, but their rivalry for the coveted lead anchor spot still provides the dramatic tension in-between the laughs. It also gives the opportunity the showcase some of the comic talent who didn't make the finished Anchorman cut - Maya Rudolph channels Pam Grier as a member of Alarm Clock, Amy Poehler is a bank clerk with a lot of questions and Justin Long is the previously unseen son of Fred Willard's TV station chief.
